As a writing side note - don't be afraid to be wrong on a few details! Just make it consistent. I fully believe consistency is the key to avoiding breaking readers' immersion.

Additionally, if you're interested in other eras, I recommend looking up advertisements, newspapers, and magazines from your chosen era, as well as art and any writing available in the public domain. And my favorite thing to do is come up with a list of sitcom shenanigans for an era - nothing will help you understand an era like trying to come up with a Seinfeld plot if it were set then!
